Walls separating from God Written by Brandon Burton on 19 Apr 2005 Ezekiel 13:10 & 11 “Because they lead my people astray, saying “Peace,” when there is no peace, and because, when a flimsy wall is built, they cover it with whitewash, therefore, tell those who cover it with whitewash that it is going to fall. Rain will come in torrents, and I will send hailstones hurtling down, and violent winds will burst forth.” (NIV) This scripture flows with prophetic power. That should be no surprise since it is from one of the Old Testament prophets and priests Ezekiel. There appears to be several levels of meaning to this scripture. The first meaning of this passage is relating to the historical context and Israel. Secondly, I believe that there is a prophetic aspect that speaks to the current state of Israel. Thirdly, I believe that there is a personal message in this passage that speaks to the heart. It is with the personal message to the heart that I will begin. Have you built any walls in your life that separate you from God? Are there areas in your life that you find yourself trying to protect? Are you making an attempt under your own power to provide yourself with peace? Are there things in your life that you have built a wall around because you are afraid that God might not take care of it the way you might think that it needs to be handled? In your attempt to create defenses to protect yourself from life’s hurts, are you rationalizing and justifying keeping things from God? Do you see how flimsy those walls are that you have erected? Allow the Spirit of God to strengthen your faith. He knows all your concerns, fears, and hurts. He knows all your “hidden” sins, and it came as no surprise to Him that you faltered and failed. Christ wants to give you true peace. Now is a season that God is tearing down those walls that separate you from Him. He has never really been far from you anyways even though you may have tried to keep some distance. He knows your disappointments, and He knows how you have been discouraged. Now is the season that He is tearing down the wall. God declares in His word that the wall is going to fall. I encourage you to confess those things to Him that have separated you from Christ. If you repent, He is faithful and will forgive (1John 1:9). God wants to give you true peace, healing, and restoration. |
