Spirit of Him who raised Jesus by Brandon Burton on 29 Jan 2007 “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” Romans 8:11 (NKJV)
What an amazing promise! There are truths here that could be easily overlooked. Upon a cursory look, Christ being raised from the dead is mentioned. Also, His promise of life is given for those whom the Spirit dwells in. The Gospel is contained here in this message. That is the promise of life for those in Christ Jesus, but did you catch some of the implications of the promises found in this verse? This verse tells how the Spirit “who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you.” Did you grasp that? The Spirit of God dwells in you if you belong to Christ. What power and hope! The Spirit of God dwells in His believers. What an amazing promise. This is not talk of worshiping a God who is afar. This is the Spirit of God in you. He is in, around, and among the redeemed. It is the Spirit who gives eternal life. It is the Spirit who will never be separated from you. Are you overwhelmed by the struggles in life right now? The Spirit of God is in you. He calls to you to trust and believe Him to give you the strength to get through the problems you are facing. Of course it is not our strength, it is His strength within us that will give you the strength to persevere. This does not presuppose some sort of new age message of multiple gods to whom you can achieve to become. That occultic message is opposed to God. This is the message of Christ in you the hope of glory (Col 1:27). It is important here to not neglect the Gospel message of the promise of God raising from the dead to give eternal life to all those who believe and have faith in Christ Jesus. So if you are a person who is reading this that is not sure if Christ dwells in you, you can receive Christ. The same power of God that raised Christ from the dead will give you life even though you have been dead in your sins and transgressions. You too can share in the promise of having life eternal with the King of Glory reigning within you. Believe upon Him. This is not a matter of exercising a set of religious behaviors and practices. You can never do enough work to achieve eternal life. Eternal life in Christ Jesus is a matter of faith, not works. Place your faith in Him and repent. The promise is for you!
