Lying Skit

SCENE 1 (Mo and Bubba)

Mo: Hey Bubba, have you ever had my aunt Maya’s chocolate chip cookies?

Bubba: Yes, they are the best I have ever had!

Mo: She just baked a batch and I can’t wait her to get home to eat them. I’m just going to take the whole cookie jar of them!

Bubba: Mo, you shouldn’t steal your Aunt Maya’s cookies!!

Mo: Come on, we won’t get in trouble, I can blame it on somebody else.

Bubba: I’m going home

Mo: OK, I’m taking the cookies.

<puppets exit>

SCENE 2 (Maya and Mo – Only Maya come up first)

Maya: Mo, could you please come here?

Mo: (from under the stage) Coming Aunt Maya.

Maya: Mo, somebody has stolen my cookie jar, and you and Bubba were the only ones here. Did you do it?

Mo: Um, uh, uh, I think I have to go now.

Maya: No Mo, you have to talk to me about this now.

Mo: It was Bubba! He is bad! I tried to stop him, but he would not listen.

Maya: I’m going to call Bubba’s parents. He’s going to be in a lot of trouble for this.

(Maya goes under stage)

Mo: (talking out-loud): Oh no, I don’t want Bubba to get in trouble. What should I do?

SCENE 3 (Maya and Mo)

(Maya and Mo – Only Maya come up first)

Maya: Mo, could you please come here?

<Mo comes up from under the stage>

Mo: What is it?

Maya: I just called Bubba’s mother and told her what happened. He’s not at home now, but he is going to be in a lot of trouble when he gets home.

Mo: (crying) Aunt Maya, I didn’t tell tell the truth! It was me who stole the jar!

Maya: Mo, I’m very disappointed with you. You lied and got Bubba in trouble. Bad things happen when people lie. That is why God tells us in the 10 commandments to not to do it.

Mo: I’m so sorry. I’ll give the cookie jar back. Can you please forgive me?

Maya: Sure I’ll forgive you. I am glad you told the truth now, but you really need go and tell Bubba’s mom that you lied before he gets home.

Mo: Thanks Aunt Maya. I’m gonna run over to Bubba’s right away and get this straightened out.

<puppets exit>

Mean Guy

---------- SCENE 1 ----------------

Mo: Ow, oh ow, my precious brain, ow <comes on stage with band-aid>

Larry: What happened to you Mo?

Mo: That bully Bubba tripped me on purpose and I fell on my brain.

Larry: That must have hurt!

Mo: Every day he picks on me and hurts me.. I must fight back! I took karate for a day and now I’m ready! <Accidentally hurts himself>

Larry: I don’t think you should do that. How about you pray about it and try to be friends with Bubba?

Mo: I don’t know about this crazy idea of yours. Maybe I should take more karate <he hurts himself again>.

Larry: Mo, trust me on this.

Mo: Fine, OK. I’ll do things your way.

Larry: I’ll meet you on the bus tomorrow.

Mo: At least bring me a first aid kit.

< Mo and Larry go under the stage>

*** Tim talk to kids ***

---------- SCENE 2 ----------------

< Mo and Larry come in (Mo’s wearing a helmet).

Larry: Mo, he’s not going to hurt you.

Mo: You can never be too careful.

< Bubba comes up>

Larry: Hey Bubba, how are you doing?

Bubba: Why would you care you fur-ball!

Larry: Well, Mo and I want to be your friends.

Bubba: Are you serious? (use a sad tone) Nobody wants to be friends with me..

Larry: We do. Maybe we can play soccer after school.

Bubba: Mo, I’m sorry I hurt you. You know, I like you guys. Maybe we *can* be friends.

Mo: It’s OK. I forgive you.

Bubba: But why do you forgive me so easily?

Mo: Because I’ve done a lot of bad stuff and God forgives me. And if God can forgive me, then I will gladly forgive you.

Bubba: Wow, I like the way that works. Since God forgives us, we can forgive others!

Larry: This is great guys. Let’s go on into school now and after school, we can start our soccer game.

All: <All cheer> Yipee, Yeah, OK.. <exit stage>

Sacrificing your money

SCENE 1 (Bubba and Gracie).

Bubba <looking down and moving his hand while he counts money> one, two, three, four.

Gracie - <interrupt Bubba> Hi ya Bubba!

Bubba – Can’t you see I’m busy?

Gracie – Busy doing what?

Bubba – Busy counting my money.

Gracie – Wow, I was just thinking about money.

Bubba – Why were you thinking of money?

Gracie – Because at church we found out that Ginger’s family is having a real hard time and could really use some extra help.

Bubba – What happened to them?

Gracie – Her daddy lost his job so they could really use some extra money to buy food. I have five dollars saved and I’m going to give it to them.

Bubba – Wow Gracie, that sure is nice of you.

Gracie – Why were you counting your money?

Bubba – Because Maia and I have been saving to buy the new airplane they are selling at Walmart.

Gracie – Oh, sounds like fun Bubba. Can I fly it with you guys after you buy it?

Bubba – Sure Gracie.

Gracie – Hey, I have to go now. I’ll see you later. <Gracie exits>

Bubba - <talks out loud to himself>. Boy, I sure do want the airplane, but Ginger’s family sure could use my money now. Ugh.. what should I do?

<Bubba exits>

SCENE 2 (Bubba, Maia, and Gracie later)

Maia – Hey Bubba, do you have the money ready to buy the airplane?

Bubba – Well Maia, I want to talk to you about something.

Maia – What is it?

Bubba – Gracie told me about a family that really needs money because the daddy lost his job.

Maia – That sounds terrible.

Bubba – Yeah. Something inside me is telling me that I should give them the money I was saving instead of buying the airplane with you.

Maia – But.. but.. You already told me you would buy it with me. It’s just not fair for you to change your mind.

<Gracie comes up>

Gracie – What’s going on? Why are you upset Maia?

Maia – It’s all your fault Gracie! You told Bubba about the family that needs money and now he wants to give his money to them.

Gracie – Maia, do you remember when you forgot your lunch money last week and Ginger gave you half of her lunch?

Maia – Yes, that sure was nice of Ginger.

Gracie – Well it is Ginger’s family that is in trouble.

Maia – Oh, I feel so terrible. She gave me half of her lunch and I was not going to give her family any of my money when they needed it the most!

Gracie – It’s OK Maia. Sometimes it’s hard to give your money away.

Maia – But I want to give it away now. I can save for the airplane another time.

Bubba – I sure am glad we get to help her family. I know it is what God would want us to do.

Gracie – You are right Bubba. Now, let’s go over to Ginger’s and give her the money!

<puppets exit>

Persecution

SCENE 1 <Gracie, Maia – then Bubba later>

Gracie: Hi Maia. What have you been doing today?

Maia: I was over at Bubba’s farm playing with the new piglet. He is so cute! I named him… sunnymuffins.

Gracie: That sounds like fun. I just love baby piglets. What is his REAL name?

Maia: Bubba named him Daniel.

Gracie: Why Daniel?

Maia: Bubba said Daniel was the guy in the Bible who would not stop praying to God even when the king told him he had to or he was going to be thrown into the lion’s den.

Gracie: I just don’t get Bubba anymore. It’s always God said this or Jesus said that. I’m so sick of him. He thinks he is better than everyone else.

Maia: <unsure of herself> uh.. oh.. yeah. He’s not so special. I bet he does bad things just like everyone else.

<Bubba comes up>

Bubba: Oh howdy girls! God sure did give us a nice day.

Gracie: Huh.. there you go again with talking about God.

Bubba: I didn’t know it bothered you Gracie. I just get happy when I think about how God has blessed me.

Gracie: Well you can get happy somewhere else. Why don’t you just leave!

Bubba: <a little sad>. OK. If that is what you want I’ll just go.

<bubba exits>

Maia: Gracie, I think I’m going to go home now.

Gracie: OK Maia. I’ll talk to you later.

<puppets exit>

SCENE 2 <Gracie, Maia>

Maia: Hi Gracie. So did you and Bubba make up yet?

Gracie: No. I don’t want to be friends with him anyway. He’s a real jerk.

Maia: Why do you think he is a jerk?

Gracie: Because he’s always talking about God. It’s not normal!

Maia: <hesitant>. Is it important to be normal?

Gracie: Why yes.. People like you if you are normal.

<Bubba comes up>

Bubba: Hi Gracie. I know you are mad at me but I don’t know why. I just wanted to let you know that if I hurt you I want to make up and be your friend.

Gracie: See Maia.. he just isn’t normal. Normal people don’t try to make peace after someone has been mean to them.

Maia: Hmm. I think I’d like it if my friend cared enough to try and make peace with me.

Gracie: But he is not normal!!

Maia: If caring like Bubba does is weird, then I like weird people!

Bubba: I know I have changed lately and maybe you don’t like change. I do still care for you and want you to be my friend, but I love God too much to stop being who I am now.

Gracie: Oh Bubba. It’s me that has been bad. I’m just jealous that Jesus is your new best friend.

Bubba: There is enough of me to go around. Really, being Jesus’ friend makes it easier for me to be a better friend to you and Maia.

Maia: Really? I want to hear more about being Jesus’ friend.

Gracie: Me too!

Bubba: OK. Let’s go to my house and get ice cream and I’ll tell you all I know about Jesus.

Gracie and Maia: great!

<puppets exit>
