I Love Because God loves me

Scene 1 <Bob and Larry>

Larry: Hey Bob, I’m so excited. It won’t be long before we can buy that Power Ranger toy set.

Bob: Yeah Larry, it has taken a lot of time to save the money, but we have finally done it. I folded clothes today and set the table, and my mom paid me the last 50 cents I needed.

Larry: I am going to use the money my grandma gave me for my birthday. I also got paid for doing some chores around the house. Now I have saved up all of the money I need too.

Bob: Tomorrow morning we will be playing with out new power rangers! Let’s meet here in the morning and then we can go to Walmart and buy it.

Larry: OK Bob see you then. But now I’m going to go tell Mo that we finally saved enough money to buy it.

<puppets exit>

Scene 2 <Larry and Mo>

Larry: Hey Mo, Guess what?

Mo: Uh.. Your cat Freckles learned how to bark like a dog?

Larry: no

Mo: aliens ate your ice cream?

Larry: no, Mo

Mo: your pet fish learned to scream like this: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Larry: No! The news is that Bob and I have finally saved up enough money to buy the Power Ranger toy set that we have been saving for.

Mo: <solemnly> Oh, that’s nice. I hope you guys have fun with it.

Larry: Mo, you don’t sound too excited. Why don’t you save some of your own money so you can buy a Power Ranger toy set?

Mo: Well, I don’t have any money. I do a lot of chores around the house like watching my little sister and taking out the trash, and folding clothes, but I don’t get paid.

Larry: Why don’t you get paid?

Mo: I don’t get paid because my parents don’t have the money to pay me. Really I am just happy to have food to eat so I am not hungry.

Larry: Wow Mo. I guess that is why you don’t have any toys of your own.

Mo: Yeah, but you and Bob let me play with yours. Maybe I can play with the Power Ranger toy set after you get it.

Larry: Sure Mo you can do whatever you want.

Mo: OK Larry. I better go home now. I have to do some thing for my mom before dinner. Bye. <Mo exits>

Larry: <slowly talks (thinks) out loud to himself>Well , maybe I should give my money to Mo so he can buy the Power Ranger toy set. But … I’ve been saving for a long time. Don’t I deserve it for myself? Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! … I just don’t know what to do. <Larry exits>

Scene 3 <Bob and Larry>

Bob: Larry, are you ready to buy it?

Larry: Well, I’m not sure.

Bob: What do you mean you’re not sure?

Larry: I talked to Mo yesterday and he told me that he does not have money and has no way of getting money to buy a Power Ranger toy set.

Bob: He doesn’t?

Larry: No, his family really only has enough money to buy food so they can eat.

Bob: Well, we can let him play with us when we use our Power Ranger toy set.

Larry: I was thinking it would be nice to buy the Power Ranger toy set for him. Jesus has been so good to us. I think it would make Him happy if we do this for Mo.

Bob: You are right. God loves us so we can show Mo how much we love him by buying it for him instead of for ourselves.

Larry: Great!! Let’s go get it and give it to Mo! <puppets exit>

Scene 4 <Larry, Mo, and Bob>

<Have Mo playing with a Power Ranger action figure (that is taped to his hand). Then have Larry and Bob come up a few seconds later>

Mo: <make action sounds as he moves the toy around>

<Larry and Bob come up>

Mo: Guys, guys! Thank you so much for buying me the Power Ranger toy set! It was so nice of you to do this for me.(accidentally hits himself in the head while making power ranger fly around).

Bob: You’re welcome Mo.

Mo: But why did you do it? Why didn’t you just buy it for yourselves?

Larry: We did it as a way of showing you that we love you. God loves us so we wanted to share that love by buying it for you instead of for ourselves.

Mo: You guys are the best! I am so glad that God loves us! Come here. I’m going to show you how God wants me to use my arms to show you I love you too! (hug)

Joey: gimme a hug everybody!

All: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Joey!

( All run off stage )

SCENE 1 (Bob and Mo – first it is just Mo)

< Mo is grumbling to himself – complaining about his baby brother getting all the attention>

Mo: Why does everyone do stuff with him? He isn’t so special. I’ve seen lots of better babies than him! Before he came someone was always there to play with me.

< Bob comes up>

Bob: Mo, I heard you talking. You sound upset. Would you like to talk?

Mo: I’m so mad! My baby brother gets all of the attention. Nobody plays with me. I know karate! He only knows hot to say ga-ga goo-goo, cry, and make really stinky diapers!

Bob: Calm down Mo!

Mo: I can’t!

Bob: Mo, it sounds to me like you are jealous.

Mo: Jealous? What does that mean?

Bob: It means you want the attention that someone else is getting

Mo: Oh

Bob: Larry’s little brother was born last year. He has gone through this too. I bet he can tell you what to do.

Mo: Okey-dokey arti-chokey

Bob: Who you callin’ arti-chokey? I’m Bob, not arti-chokey!

Mo: Okey-Dokey hokey-pokey

Bob: Oh boy…

< puppets exit stage>

SCENE 2 (Mo and Larry) – first just Mo calling Larry

Mo: Larry, Larry. Can you come here? I need your help.

< Larry comes up from under the stage>

Larry: What’s is it?

Mo: You know I just got a new baby brother and Bob said I’m jealous. What do you think I should do about it.

Larry: Mo, you came to the right person. When my baby brother was born I was jealous too. I felt like he got all of the attention. I can talk to you, but the first thing we should do is pray.

Mo: Okey-dokey egg-yolkey, let’s pray.

Larry: Dear God. Getting a new little baby brother is sometimes hard. Please help Mo to not be jealous. With your help I know he can do it – Amen!

Mo: You know, I think I feel a little better already.

Larry: Mo, babies do need a lot of attention because they can’t do anything for themselves like us big guys can do. Really, taking care of a baby is really hard work for your parents.

Mo: Hey, you know I never thought of it like that.

Larry: I bet if you help your parents do things around the house, then when the baby takes a nap, they will have more time to play with you.

Mo: That sounds like an excellent idea. I’m going to be the best helper!

Larry: Don’t forget to tell your parents how you feel. Then you can ask them how you can help with your new baby brother.

Mo: I know my mommy is going to be soo excited. I’m going to go home now and talk to her about it.

Larry: Okey-dokey froggy-croakey!

Mo: Hey, that is what I was supposed to say!!

< puppets exit the stage>

Jesus loves sinners

Bubba <Joe>, Maia <Chris>, and Gracie <Michael>

Scene 1 <Bubba and Maia>

Bubba: Hi Maia, I’m sure glad you invited Gracie to church yesterday.

Maia: Me too. Everyone was real nice to her. I hope she felt loved.

Bubba: I hope so too, but for some reason she looked upset today.

Maia: <jaw hanging> I noticed that too. I wonder why she is upset.

Bubba: Well, there is a good way to find out – I’m going to ask her.

Maia: OK Bubba. I’ll see you later.

Bubba: Bye

<puppets exit>

Scene 2 <Gracie and Bubba> - the scene opens with Gracie weeping and screaming

Bubba: Gracie, why are you crying?

Gracie: Because I’m not good enough!!

Bubba: Good enough for what?

Gracie: Good enough for God. Everyone at church seems so good – like they don’t do any bad things. And me.. I’m always doing bad stuff.

Bubba: But, but.. Gracie… <Gracie interrupts Bubba>

Gracie: <interrupt Bubba> Sometimes I hit my brother and sometimes I lie and I’ve even stolen candy from my sister. I feel terrible about the things I’ve done.

Bubba: But Gracie, God still loves you!

Gracie: He does?

Bubba: Sure he does. That bad stuff you do is called sin. Jesus loves you so much that he came allll the way from Heaven down to earth to wash your sin away.

Gracie: He did that for me?

Bubba: Yep. It’s like my pig Charlotte. She lies in the mud and gets all dirty. Then I have to give her a bath to clean her up.

Gracie: Bubba are you telling me I need a bath?!?

Bubba: Not a bath to clean your body, Jesus will give you a bath on the inside – he will wash your sin away. Then you don’t have to feel terrible anymore.

Gracie: Wow, I love Jesus!! I’m going to ask Him to wash my sin away! Bye Bubba!

Bubba: Then I’ll be like a little birdie! <flies off stage>

<puppets exit>

Scene 3 < Bubba, Gracie, and Maia>

Gracie: Maia, Bubba told me about how Jesus will wash my sin away and I’m so happy that I just have to hug somebody.

Bubba: What about me? You can hug me!

Maia: We can all hug.

<Have Joey come up and kiss Gracie on the lips – then Gracie will scream>

<Everyone hug – then exit the stage>

SKIT - Let the Children Come to Me

Scene 1 <Bubba, Maia first, then Gracie comes up>

Bubba: Hi Maia

Maia: Hey Bubba, you sure did answer a lot of questions about the Bible in Sunday school yesterday.

Bubba: Well, I try to know God better by reading the Bible and praying.

Maia: But I tell you, that Gracie – she could not answer any questions about the Bible. She really does not know God.

Bubba: Maia, Gracie just started coming to church and she is only 3 years old! You are 5.

Maia: I bet Jesus doesn’t care about her now. She is too little to even understand him.

<Gracie comes up>

Gracie: Whaaa! I heard that Maia. I just knew Jesus doesn’t love me. I feel so terrible – I’m going home to cry alone…without you or anyone else …waaaaaaaaaa!

<puppets exit>

Scene 2 <Bubba and Maia>

Bubba: Now see what you did Maia. You made Gracie feel like Jesus doesn’t love her when he really does love her so much!

Maia: But why would Jesus love someone who doesn’t know much about Him?

Bubba: Well Maia, I have to tell you something about Jesus. Once there were a bunch of little children like Gracie that wanted to come to him.

Maia: So, what happened? Did he tell them to wait until they got older?

Bubba: No, Jesus’ friends tried to tell them to not come, but Jesus told them to not stop the children. He said to let the little children come to him.

Maia: But why would Jesus care about little children?

Bubba: Because they love him with their hearts!

Maia: Oh.. I never thought of it that way. So loving Jesus is what really matters?

Bubba: Yes Maia, loving Jesus is really what matters.

Maia: Oh no. What should I do about Gracie? I made her feel terrible. I don’t think Jesus is very happy with me now. I’ll have to cry too! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Bubba: It’s OK Maia. Just tell Jesus you are sorry and then go tell Gracie that Jesus loves her so much!

SCENE 3 <Maia and Gracie>

Gracie: (crying) whaaa.. Jesus doesn’t love me. Nobody loves me.

Maia: Gracie, Gracie. I really need to talk to you.

Gracie: No way, you are just going to make me feel worse.

Maia: Not this time Gracie. I want to tell you I did something really bad. I said that Jesus didn’t care about you because you were too little. I was totally wrong.

Gracie: What do you mean? How could He love someone like me that knows so little?

Maia: He knows that you love him with all of your heart and that is what counts. Please forgive me for telling you something that was so wrong.

Gracie: Are you sure he loves me?

Maia: Yep. Bubba even showed me in the Bible how much Jesus loves little children. And I love you too. <Maia reaches over and gives Gracie a hug>

Gracie: Oh Maia. I love you and Jesus so much. I’m so happy now. I just have to go tell Bubba that I’m all better now. < PUPPETS EXIT>
