America,
Will You Continue to Refuse God? Originally
authored on 15 Aug 2004 by Brandon Burton I believe God is trying to get the attention of America in this day. God is looking for His church to be the leaders in this country of America. It is my belief that this country has turned from the God who has blessed this country. It is not by accident that events and circumstances transpired to make this country a mighty and great country. Allow me to relate some scripture that I believe the Lord has impressed upon me. It is a scripture that came to me late in the night when I could not sleep. It was close to 1 am on 1 Aug 2004.The scripture I believe God is revealing for this time is Jeremiah. Of specific focus for this discussion is Jeremiah 5. It is my impression that the same Biblical truths that were applied to Israel in Jeremiah are now being applied to America.
“O Lord, do not your eyes look for truth? You struck them, but they felt no pain; you crushed them, but they refused correction. They made their faces harder than stone. And refused to repent.” Jeremiah 5:3 NIV Does this scripture speak to you as strongly as it speaks to me? To me, this seems like an exact picture of America. America has been struck, but I do not think that America has repented. There is open sin in this nation. There is rebelliousness before God. God is merciful and full of grace, but He is also just and righteous. He will not allow sin to continue unabated forever. He is trying to get America to repent. I believe that God would rather that America would turn itself towards Him without calamity. However, I believe He will do what He has to in order to get His prodigals to return home. How many more 9/11’s will it take my dear ones in order for you to dwell in truth? “So I will go to the leaders and speak to them; surely they know the way of the Lord, the requirements of their God.” But with one accord they too had broken off the yoke and torn off the bonds.” Jeremiah 5:5 This is an accurate reflection of the leadership of this nation. Although there have been some in leadership who honor God, there is an ongoing pattern of leaders in this country who renounce God as the sovereign creator and giver of blessings of this nation. Yet this nation tolerates them! The nation as a whole has sat back idly and watched the leaders remove God from this country. These leaders are breaking the covenant that the founding fathers established. They do this disregarding the truth. There is a pervasive attitude that does not allow an acknowledgment of Christ. This suppressing of the truth occurs in communities throughout the country. The high courts of this land have shown themselves to stand opposed to the truth. “Therefore a lion from the forest will attack them, a leopard will lie in wait near their towns to tear to pieces any who venture out, for their rebellion is great and their backslidings many.” Jeremiah 5:6 I believe this is a representation of terrorism in our day. It strikes me as a figurative representation of attacks that suddenly spring upon unsuspecting people. They are attacks that occur suddenly and catch many by surprise. How can this nation expect Divine protection when there is great rebellion throughout the land? It is a land and a people who are renouncing God and thereby asserting that they do not want His protection.
