Trials and Joy Written by Brandon Burton on 29 Sep 2005 James 1:2 “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds.” (NIV) Yes, “Consider it pure joy” is what the Bible says when you “face trials.” This statement appears contrary to human nature. Actually, the Gospel message is contrary to human nature. God wants us to be able to see beyond the human nature into the spiritual realm. The spiritual realm is different than the realm of human nature and the flesh. While it is common for people to look upon trials with disdain, the Biblical perspective is to look upon those trying times with joy. Have you considered that God is using those trials to produce something in you that is incorruptible and could have lasting effects for all eternity? Is your marriage facing trials? “Consider it pure joy.” Are you facing financial trials? “Consider it pure joy.” Those trials that just do not seem to go away just might be used to create something in you that is of more value than can be measured in human terms. It can appear a tall order to count it joy when you feel overwhelmed with trials in your life. God wants to remind you of something. God wants to remind you that there is a spiritual purpose for your trials. The trials of this world are only temporary, and He wants you to remember that He loves you too much to allow you to settle for anything but His best. “Consider it pure joy” my dear one.
