7:47 “Therefore, I tell you, her
many sins have been forgiven—for she loved much.
But he who has been forgiven little loves little.”
(NIV) Here is another verse that represents some of the great principles of the Bible. This verse encapsulates the true spiritual perspective in the kingdom of heaven. It can be summed up this way: the low are high, and the high are low. This principle does not make sense to the world. The scripture in Luke gives us an example of how God’s kingdom puts things in perspective compared to the views of the world. Praise God for that! Think of the ramifications. God is telling us that not all is lost if we have a personal history of much sin and wickedness. When we place our faith in Christ, something happens that shakes up this view of sin, shame, and unworthiness. God counts us worthy by the cross out of His great love for us. When we realize the abundant love and grace that God has given us, it stirs us deep in our hearts. Oh, what great love this creates. When an old sinner gets washed in the blood of the lamb, they realize the value of that cleansing. They know what great peril their lives were in. They know of being lost and bound in wickedness. Such love and appreciation springs forth out the heart of the person who has received much forgiveness. You do not have to look back with fear and shame over your past. Who can know better the depth of God’s unending love than the person who was so far away in sin and yet was redeemed? You can know that God can take much sin and turn it into much love by faith in Christ and His atoning sacrifice on the cross. Back to: Encouragement Home |
